this role will be crucial in expanding CRED’s consumer payments business, our biggest product line today. CRED customers currently have access to various payment products, including credit card bill payments, bbps (rent, school fees, utility bills, etc.), upi, and merchant payments. as the lead for the consumer payments frontend engineering team (with some backend responsibilities), you will steer the growth and adoption of upi payments like scan and pay and peer-to-peer, driving meaningful impact on user growth, product reliability, and innovation in the payments ecosystem over the next 1–2 years.
make CRED the go-to platform for all daily payment needs across scan-and-pay and peer-to-peer transactions. key metrics: increase in upi daily transacting users (dtu/mtu), total payment volume (tpv), transactions per user (tpu), % of CRED mtu adopting CRED upi, and % of rupay upi transactions via CRED.
enhance the reliability and user experience of all payment products by improving speed, reducing error and failure rates, and optimising transaction times. key metrics: increase upi m1/mx retention, adoption, multi-lob adoption, transaction success rate, session-to-transaction conversion rate, and reactivation.
identify innovative payment use cases to keep CRED ahead of industry trends.key metrics: develop new opportunities that positively impact the user metrics outlined above.
you should apply if you:
hands-on understanding of at least one of the mobile platforms (flutter, ios, or android), with active coding experience when needed and knowledge of frontend architecture for the product or platform worked on. must have been in a hands-on role within the last 2 years.
ability to work closely with backend teams to ensure performance, scalability, and fault tolerance across upi backend systems; experience collaborating with platform teams is a plus.
deep problem-solving capability, with the ability to diagnose issues, evaluate solutions, and advocate passionately for the best approach.
customer empathy, prioritising user experience and design while balancing growth and retention.
proven experience owning end-to-end consumer metrics, with a focus on frontend (backend experience is a plus).
experience leading frontend-focused engineering teams in payments, with working knowledge of backend systems and integration flows.
exposure to mobile testing frameworks and automation.
ai-first mindset, comfortable leveraging ai tools to generate functional code.
